This statue was established in front of the Ohama Aquarium in 1903 when the National Industrial Exhibition was held. It was familiarly known as a symbol of peace and prosperity named Otohime, but it was removed when the aquarium was closed. It was rebuilt on the Kitahato Pier in the year 2000 as a project to commemorate the 110th anniversary of municipal incorporation. The statue looking down at the old Sakai port with the unobstructed blue sky in the background is a symbol of Sakai.
