Hamadera Park, constructed in 1873, is one of the oldest parks in Japan. This greenery park boasts a beautiful forest of approximately 4,000 pine trees, which was selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Pine Forests. It gives the impression of a beach with white sand and green pine groves. Since there are not only pine trees but also approximately 1,300 cherry trees, cherry blossoms are in bloom in spring. Moreover, there is a rose garden where 6,000 roses of 500 varieties are planted. Also, as a unique facility of Hamadera Park, there is a transportation amusement park (with a train for children, go-carts, and battery cars). In addition, you can enjoy swimming in a total of seven outdoor pools (three 25-meter pools, one 50-meter pool, one big adjustable pool, one flowing water pool, and one small adjustable pool), and a giant slider and bubble hill play equipment are available for a fee. A variety of sports facilities are available, such as tennis courts (all-weather courts, omni-courts, clay courts), Japanese-style (rubber-ball) baseball fields, softball fields, ball game spaces, and an archery range. Moreover, play equipment for children is available at different sites of the park, such as the North Playground, South Playground, and Takaishi Playground. Paid playgrounds, which are greatly enjoyed by many children, are also available, such as the running bike practice field and the Fuwafuwa Dome.
