This shrine is classified as a myojin-taisha (a shrine dedicated to a revered deity), as described in Engishiki Jinmyocho (a register of shrines in Japan). It is renowned for prayer for the prevention of rain and disasters. The structure of the main hall (honden) is in otori-zukuri style, a unique style second only in age to taisha-zukuri style (an architectural style involving kirizuma-zukuri with a gabled roof and with a tsuma-iri entrance on the gable side). The precincts of approximately 50,000 square meters are a place of pure air featuring three ponds and many trees.
