Sotetsuyama Mountain faces Osaka Bay and was developed as a scenic miniature hill. In 1879, Sotetsuyama was opened as Ohama Park, marking the place where an artillery battery was built in preparation for the arrival of the Kurofune (Black Ships, referring to US warships) at the end of the Edo period. Currently, it is the lowest mountain in Japan among mountains with a first-order triangulation point.
